Our volunteers help The Ark provide hope to our neighbors by allowing us to assist our neighbors in their particular times of need. We would not be able to provide all of our services without the help of our dedicated volunteers who give their time and energy and contribute to making our organization a success.
"What does volunteering at The Ark look like?"
There are two positions of an Ark volunteer:
1. Interviewer:
Conducts one on one interview with neighbors on an appointment basis. Interviewers gather information regarding the neighbor’s current financial situation and work with the Director to make decisions regarding the eligibility for financial assistance.
2. Intake :
Answers incoming phone calls, writes all food bank referrals and conducts intake paperwork on all neighbors.
"How often can I volunteer?"
Volunteers typically come once a week, bi-weekly, or act as a substitute, but we are open to any schedule that works best for you!
Get Involved by becoming a volunteer!
You too can join us in making a difference in the lives of our neighbors
Volunteer of the Month:
Diana Pearson
Diana Person started volunteering at The Ark in June of 2006! She started as the Ark representative from Holy Cross Lutheran Church for a few years and then a friend suggested she should volunteer after she retired from teaching.
We asked Diana what her favorite part of volunteering was and this is what she had to say,
"I have two...the first is having the opportunity to work with the wonderful individuals employed by the Ark Board. The second is the chance to interact with the individuals who come to the Ark seeking help from the food bank and from the Ark for rent and utility assistance."
The most impactful moment at The Ark for Diana was that "(she) served on the Ark Board for a few years before (she) became president of the Board. During the time (she) served, The Ark started the loan program and (she) was also a part of the team that hired Lucy as the now Executive Director.
Diana wanted to add, "I enjoyed volunteering at the Ark Golf tournament for many years. It was fun meeting the golfers and interacting with the many individuals who worked together to have a successful fundraiser"
Thank you Diana, for your many years dedicated to making sure low income working families have the resources that they deserve! We would not be able to operate without people like you!
